Service de médiation scolaire – What is it?
Service de médiation scolaire is French and means:
school mediation service.
Mediation means helping with problems.
In the rest of this text we say: school mediation.
School mediation helps parents and pupils with problems at school.
It helps with conflicts with:
- primary school,
- secondary school (lycée),
- a service from the Ministry of Education
School mediation is part of the Ministry of Education
(ministère de l’Éducation).
School mediation works independently.
This means: they take their own decisions.
The ministry does not tell them what to do.
When can school mediation help?
School mediation can help in 3 situations:
dropping out of school
inclusion
integration
Complaints
Can contact the school mediation :
- the parents of pupils,
- the pupils,
- people who work at school (teachers, educators, director…).
